Rev. Awad’s experiences include pastoral and teaching ministries in Palestine/Israel, the United States and a few other countries some of which are: Norway, England, Romania, Brazil, South Africa, Sweden, Holland, New Zealand, Canada, Indonesia and Germany. Currently, he is pastor of the East Jerusalem Baptist Church. He is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church since 1989, board member of the Council of Local Evangelical Churches in the Holy Land, and director of the Shepherd Society, BBC's charitable outreach

Rev. Awad’s proactive speaking on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict from a Christian, Palestinian perspective led to his writing a book on the topic entitled, Through the Eyes of the Victims (2001). A second book, Palestinian Memories, the Story of a Palestinian Mother and Her People, was released in June 2008. He has also written several articles on the situation, which were published in a variety of magazines and newspapers such as: The United Methodist Reporter, Haaretz', The Mennonite, Baptist Peacemaker, New World Outlook, Christianity Today and Christian Social Action.
